So Friday afternoon I left for Spokane to visit Becky. I was planning to leave at noon, but my car had cooling problems last time I drove it across the state, so I ended up doing a radiator flush before I left. Radiators are messy–I have even more respect for the air-cooled Volkswagen now. “Air does not freeze–nor does it boil over”.
So I ended up leaving at 3:00. And I’m cheap so I didn’t take the ferry. I ended up arriving in Spokane around 10:30. The car was fine…it was fine through the pass, it got a little hot about 80 miles out of Spokane, but I slowed down a bit and it cooled back down.
Becky made fun of me for not being able to see any house numbers when hers was illuminated in her front yard. But we all know how unobservant I am. Becky’s house is cool–her dad has a buffalo head mounted on a wall in the basement, a chandelier made out of antlers, and various other hunting related dead things.
You just don’t see stuff like that on Bainbridge. Anyway, the buffalo head was huge, and cool.
Saturday: Brunch with Becky and her mother and sister. I had a giant BLT, and it was yummy. After that, Becky and I went to the store to buy a loaf of bread, and then we went to the park to feed the ducks and swans. Swans are cool. There were two baby ducks there, and Becky hit one with a piece of bread (no crust, it was fine…). Then we walked through the Japanese garden, rose garden, and the conservatory (green house with exotic plants). We also saw a dead squirrel.
After the park we went to mall and wandered around–Becky bought the next book in the Chronicles of Narnia, and I bought a pair of black socks (I forgot mine, and I wasn’t wearing whit socks with black pants and shoes to church on Sunday). We also got ice cream. Next we went back to Becky’s house, stayed there for a little while, and saw Bewitched with her mother and sister. It was a cute movie. After the movie we had dinner at Stuart Anderson’s (restuarant, not person), then went back to Becky’s house, where we watched the DVD of her brother’s wedding (from a week ago) and then everyone went to bed.
(i ‘ll finish this update later)

So the last week I haven’t really been productive. I’ve been running a few times. I’d like to think exercise is bad for me, but I know it really isn’t. I started playing World of Warcraft agian. Bad idea. That game is crack. Also, I haven’t gotten any email since Tuesday…turns out I exceeded the quota with my mail host. Oops. I need to get my own email server up and running…that project is almost finished…I just need a couple more days to tinker around with it.
I got a laptop! 12-inch powerbook. It’s really cool–I think it’s going to work out really well. Yeah…today I’m cleaning my room, I guess…I also need to catch up on a lot of yacht club stuff…ugh. I also need to plan my fourth of july trip to Spokane…

Today I was explaining to Becky Miller what an escort service is…
Me: “Well, it’s kind of like prostitution…but there’s some question as to whether or not sex is involved.”
Becky M: “Well, I have a dollar.”
Me: “Whaa…!?? That is so going on my blog.”

Seen today written on a toilet seat cover dispenser in a University of Washington bathroom:
“George W. campaign party hats”
I’m a republican, but I still find this rather amusing for some reason. I think the idea of toilet seat covers as party hats in general is what did it for me.

I don’t do enough random ranting. Anyway, I’m ranting on Honda Elements today. I have to say that it is by far the ugliest car I have ever seen…I mean…yeah…I’m at a loss for words. It’s hideous. If we wanted boxy cars, we’d buy used ones from the 1980s for a heck of a lot less. Who’s buying these things!?!?

Thursday: Still sick. Math section. Something with Becky (lunch? but I don’t think I had much of an appetite). Music Theory final–I think it went OK. We’ll see.
Friday: Still sick. Work in the morning. Last math lecture. Did some stuff with Becky. Took the afternoon off from work–I wasn’t feeling so good. Went home. Slept.
Saturday: Still sick. Becky wanted to have lunch with me, but I wasn’t hungry and needed to do some last minute studying. Math final. Ugh. Went to Northgate Mall with Becky for a while afterwards. Went home. Slept.
Sunday: Still sick. Church. Lunch with Becky. Went home. Slept.
Monday: Still sick (getting better, though, I think). Worked from home (no classes in the morning so I didn’t need to go in). Went to campus, worked, went to Barnes and Noble with Becky after work, then we had lunch with the other Becky and her parents and some UCF people. Next stop: Odegaard so Becky could study, I attempted to broaden my horizons with new literature, but didn’t have much luck. Now I’m updating my blog. Yee-haw. Also, I read the news, depressing as usual.

Wednesday (last week): Work. Class. Sat with Dan Ahn after lunch since I couldn’t find Becky…finally saw her, but I found out about 10 minutes later that apparently she wasn’t looking for me–quote from her: “I was sort of hoping not to see you…but now I’m glad you’re here”. So I sat with her and asked what was up, “I was awakened by a phone call at 6:00 in the morning”, she says, “by my mother calling to say that she was dragging my father across the state this weekend to meet you.”
“oh that’s nice.” I say. Anyway, I spent the next 30 minutes calming her down, I think she was a lot more freaked out about it than I was. Later in the day we went sailing on a Hobie 16, it was great wind, and I managed to not capsize…although we did come close a few times. Becky seemed to enjoy it.
Thursday(last week): Lunch with Becky. Apparently she hated the day, but I thought it was OK.
Friday: Work. Class. Had lunch with my friend Heather (hadn’t seen her since February or so). Coffee with Becky after work, and then she had a meeting which the other half didn’t show up for, so she got a ride to Golden Gardens with me. Yeah, so everyone ought to know we’re a couple by now.
I brought a steak to Golden Gardens, it was yummy. I couldn’t finish it so I gave the rest to Dan Dameron.
Saturday: Work. And I was having dinner with Becky and her family at 6:30 in the U-Village. You know, I thought I was past that stage in my life where I could be nervous nearly to the point of nausea…not so, I guess. But it seemed to go well, no huge blunders. Becky did have to remind me to breathe at first, though. After dinner I gave everyone a tour of the Waterfront Activities Center, and then I went to see Madagascar with Becky, her mother, and her sister.
Sunday: Church with Becky and family. It was good. Then, lunch at Cheesecake Factory with Becky and family and family friends. I had a GIANT burger, it was great.
After lunch I went home to Bainbridge.
Monday: Did some work around the house, trimming weeds in the ditch, looking for tree roots that were cracking the driveway, etc. I sort of felt a cold coming on mid-day, but ignored it and went bowling with my brother in the evening. I was feeling very bad by the time I got home, but I watched Ocean’s Twelve with my Mom and Brother.
Tuesday: Slept horribly the night before, and I was miserable from a full-blow cold. Got up early to take the ferry back to Seattle, went to class, had lunch with Becky at Orange King. Apparently her burger wasn’t very good…sad.
My “chicken teriyaki” was more like stir fry–not yummy. I think I’ll stick with their burgers.
Wednesday: Still sick. Went to work in the morning, then class. Found Becky after class, and she dragged me all over campus doing errands. Then we had lunch at University Teriyaki, but I was too sick to eat all my food.
After lunch we studied in Odegaard for a while, then Becky went to class and I went home and took a nap. After I woke up from my very nice nap Becky decided that she was coming over to watch a movie and have dinner, despite my insistences that I was deathly ill. So, she came over with Ever After (I’m going to hear about this from the all the guys…I just know it…but I just have one question for you guys, what movie did you watch with your girlfriend? What’s that? You don’t have a girlfriend? huh…) and we ordered pizza and watched the movie. It was cute. And now I need to study for my final tomorrow.
